ay 2026, Mitsubishi’s local arm confirmed the updated lineup, which includes the aforementioned model, is set to launch in the “coming months”. Well, the revised Triton range has officially touched down in SA, with the new Bi-Turbo derivative spearheading the portfolio.

The refreshed Triton lineup comprises 12 derivatives – split 10/2 between double- and single-cab body styles, respectively. The double-cab can be had with the choice of six trim grades: GL, GLS, Xtreme, Athlete, Edition 46, and newly introduced Bi-Turbo. As its name would suggest, the latter variant employs the Japanese automaker’s new 2.4-litre twin-turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine, which produces 150 kW and 470 N.m of torque – the latter available from a low 1 500 r/min. The twin-turbocharged powertrain is exclusively coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission. Power is delivered to the road via Mitsubishi’s Super Select II four-wheel drivetrain. Mitsubishi claims an average fuel consumption of 8.4 L/100 km for the twin-turbo unit. Matching the latter figure translates to a range of 893 km from a full, 75-litre tank of fuel. The Triton Bi-Turbo sports a 3 500 kg braked towing capacity and 1 000 kg payload capacity.

The remaining models in the range are all equipped with the marque’s 2.4-litre single-turbo four-cylinder diesel motor. The single-turbo oil-burner churns out 135 kW and 430 N.m, or 81 kW and 200 N.m depending on the model. This unit can be had with either a six-speed automatic or five-speed manual cog-swapper, and 4×2 or 4×4 drivetrains.

Distinguishing the Triton Bi-Turbo from its siblings, the most powerful model in the lineup features several “sporty” elements, Mitsubishi says. Roof rails and a styling bar are also included with the package. An assisted tailgate is also present. Stepping inside, the multifunction steering wheel is trimmed in hide, with the seats upholstered in synthetic leather with a suede knit. The 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen incorporates wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and relays tunes via a six-speaker audio system. The cabin further features a 7.0-inch digital driver’s display and dual-zone climate control. Safety items include seven airbags, a surround-view camera setup supplemented by fore and aft park distance sensors, and several advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and lane departure warning, to name but a few.

Updated Mitsubishi Triton price in SA

Locally, the updated Triton double-cab range is priced from R639 990 for the entry-level derivative up to R959 990 for the Bi-Turbo flagship. Pricing for the single-cab lineup kicks off at R499 999. As standard, all models ship with a five-year/unlimited km warranty and a five-year/90 000 km service plan.
