Official Bafana Bafana Watch Party presented by HONOR Ignites Football Fever at Mall of Africa and The Pavilion Mall with the Biggest Bafana Bafana Watch Parties

Football, music, celebrity appearances and unforgettable fan experiences await as South Africans unite behind Bafana Bafana

The countdown is almost over. As Bafana Bafana prepares to take on Mexico in their highly anticipated tournament opener this evening, excitement is sweeping across the country. From living rooms and fan parks to workplaces and social gatherings, South Africans are rallying behind the national team in anticipation of football's biggest spectacle. But nowhere will the atmosphere be bigger than at the Official Watch Party taking place at Mall of Africa at the Fun Park and at The Pavilion Mall in Durban.

The Official Bafana Bafana Watch Party presented by HONOR in partnership with SAFA, Adidas, The Department of Sports, Arts and Culture, Gauteng Tourism, Debonairs Pizza and Mall of Africa, the event promises far more than just 90 minutes of football.

Set to become one of Gauteng and Durban's largest football experiences, the watch parties will bring together football lovers, music fans and families for an evening packed with entertainment, prizes, celebrity appearances and proudly South African energy.

From 18:00, supporters will gather at Mall of Africa ahead of the highly anticipated South Africa versus Mexico clash, which kicks off at 21:00. In the initial encounter in 2010, the game ended in a one-all stale mate. This time around, fans will be expecting more from both teams. Giant screens, live entertainment, interactive fan experiences and exciting giveaways will transform the venue into a sea of yellow and green as supporters unite behind the national team. Fans will also stand a chance to walk away with incredible prizes while enjoying activations from some of South Africa's leading brands and organisations.

Bafana Bafana legends, Mark Williams, Pollen Ndlanya, Brian Baloyi, Fabian McCarthy and Morgan Gould will be in attendance. Adding to the excitement is a star-studded entertainment lineup featuring some of South Africa's most celebrated artists and personalities. Fans can look forward to performances from Young Stunna, Mawhoo, Thatohatsi, DJ Benzo, Moreki and iconic kwaito star Chomee creating an unforgettable festival atmosphere before kick-off. Across the country, The Pavilion, supporters will also be treated to performances by Sizwe Mdlalose, DJ Tira, The Q Twins and Captain South Africa, ensuring the celebrations continue long before and after the final whistle.

The event will also feature appearances from key Government and Tourism stakeholders, including The Deputy Minister of the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture, Ms Peace Mabe and Gauteng Tourism Chief Marketing Officer, Mr Barba Gaoganediwe, underscoring the significance of the occasion as South Africa once again takes its place on football's biggest stage. Their presence reflects a shared commitment to leveraging sport as a catalyst for social cohesion, tourism growth and national pride.

“Football is a sport that brings everyone together. That is why the HONOR brand has joined forces with SAFA and a selection of various partners to fellowship with South Africans from all walks of life as we witness round two of the clash between Bafana Bafana and Mexico. It’s a night of celebration, culture and community,” says HONOR South Africa CEO, Fred Zhou.

At the Mall of Africa activation, the first 300 fans to get there will receive a soft drink voucher, with additional spot prizes during the event. From Debonairs Pizza the first 200 fans will receive a Pizza Voucher worth R179 each. The Department of Sports, Arts and Culture and Gauteng Tourism, have also partnered to ensure fan safety and security during the watch party events. Mall of Africa have also ensured that all parking tickets will be charged at a flat rate of R15 during the Watch Party.

100 Prizes to be given away by HONOR, SAFA and Adidas

Announced at the HONOR 600 Series launch at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand last month; in collaboration with SAFA, and Adidas the initiative turns every Bafana Bafana goal into another reason for Mzansi to celebrate. For every Bafana Bafana goal scored during the tournament, HONOR South Africa, SAFA and Adidas will jointly give away 100 prizes to consumers through competitions running across HONOR South Africa, SAFA and Adidas social media platforms and at the Official Watch Parties.

The initiative brings football, technology, performance and supporter culture together in one shared experience, where every goal becomes another reason to celebrate, every fan feels closer to the action and every moment has the chance to live beyond the final whistle.
